Find a study group that works for you

WiSE offers a variety of academic support options for all STEM students. This includes WiSE led, Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions, Study Owl sessions, and tutoring.

Supplemental Instruction consists of weekly study sessions facilitated by a student leader who successfully completed the course and sits in on current lectures. Study sessions are pre-planned by the SI leader and consist of practice problems, study games, and more.

We are pleased to partner with the Academic Success Center to offer WiSE-specific SI sessions. This provides more opportunity for WiSE community!

How to Join an SI Group:

View the SI schedule on the Academic Success Center website and sign up for your group!

Study Owls is a study program that brings together WiSE students to work on homework and study for various subjects, such as math, biology, chemistry, and physics. If you're looking for a study group, stop into Study Owls!

Every Wednesday between 6:00-8:00 p.m. (come and go style) in WiSE West (Student Innovation Center, Room 3135.)

Study Owls begins Wednesday, January 24.

Tutoring is available for courses that don't offer Supplemental Instruction. All tutoring requests are coordinated through the Academic Success Center. You can apply for a tutor using their website.

For more information regarding tutoring or if you have questions, please contact Sarah DuBois.

WiSE offers scholarships to current students who are enrolled in STEM curricula at Iowa State

The WiSE Scholarship Application is part of the University Scholarship Application (OneApp). The WiSE scholarship utilizes questions answered in the Iowa State General Application to determine awards. You must complete the OneApp scholarship application in order to be considered for a WiSE scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards via One App communication.

WiSE is able to offer scholarships through the generosity of our donors: Al and Linda Carver, Janice Davison, Diane Brandt, Lisa and Howard Heckes, Sylvia Stoesser Memorial, Laurel Ann Crowe, Charles T. Wright, Olga Margaret Thompson, Mette Lundsgaard, and the Program for Women in Science and Engineering Committee.

Being a WiSE SI Leader was a great experience. I got to see an amazing group of women bond and become more confident in their class content. One of my attendees even got 100% on one of her exams!
