Grace Carey, Dietetics
Grace is a senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, studying Dietetics. She hopes to become a Registered Dietitian who specializes in neonatal nutrition. She loves learning the science of how food affects human health. She is involved in many organizations on campus including the Student Dietetic Association, WiSE, Dance Marathon and works as a teaching assistant. In her free time, Grace enjoys creating new recipes, going on hikes, and listening to mystery podcasts!
Jayna Farrell, Animal Science
Jayna is a senior from Goose Lake, Iowa, majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Leadership Studies. After graduation, Jayna plans to attend Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Jayna is involved in the Pre-vet Club and is a Peer Facilitator for the WiSE Leadership Studies course. Jayna studied abroad in Ireland for one semester, where this photo was taken. In her free time, she enjoys reading, journaling, and hanging out with her roommates.
Regine Peters, Statistics
Regine is a senior from Windhoek, Namibia, majoring in Statistics with a minor in Psychology. After graduation, she hopes to use her statistics degree and knowledge to work with underserved youth –with a specialized focus on mental health and wellness. Regine is involved in the Womxn of Colour Network, International Student Council, WiSE, and works as a research assistant in the Computer Science Department. In her free time, she loves watching anime, being a plant mom, and making her own earrings.
Dannia Thorpe, Mechanical Engineering
Dannia is a sophomore from Frisco, Texas, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Leadership Studies. She is involved with student organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. She is a Peer Facilitator for the WiSE Leadership Studies course and is the sophomore advisor to the President's Leadership Class with President Wendy Wintersteen. In her free time, she loves blogging, walking around campus, and finishing DIY projects.
Gloria Youngbear, Chemical Engineering
Gloria is a sophomore from Tama, Iowa, majoring in Chemical Engineering. She works as a Peer Mentor for the Chemical Engineering Learning Community and a Peer Facilitator for the WiSE Leadership Studies course. In her free time, Gloria enjoys playing Animal Crossing, taking care of her plants, and spending time with her dogs.
Yamille Perez, Panel Facilitator
Yamille is the Outreach & Recruitment Coordinator at WiSE, she is from San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2011 she graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Sales Engineering from ISU. She worked as a Sales Engineer for 8+ years before joining the WiSE team. Yamille is an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), involved at a local, regional, and national level. In her free time, Yamille enjoys time with her family, friends, and goddaughters, cooking and grilling, working on home and craft projects, and taking care of her plants and two cats.
